Fragrantica!!!

Hello, I've been away from my blog for the past little while but I'm back now! Today I was at work and my co-worker told me about this website http://www.fragrantica.com. It's an online encyclopedia for ALL fragrances. It tells you the history, the notes, how popular it is. EVERYTHING! So, I thought it'd be fun to feature one fragrance a week and tell you guys all about it! Today I'll be doing Thierry Mugler's Womanity because it's my favourite and should be featured first!
So, heres what Fragrantica says:

"18 years after Angel and 5 years after extraordinary Alien, Thierry Mugler is saluting femininity. The new edition will thrill all fans of his creations. It is named Womanity and it arrives in stores in mid-June 2010. Thierry Mugler with Womanity plans to launch (for the third time) a bestseller perfume and which will attract the public for years.

Womanity is a word created to connect femininity, humanity and city. An overture to this edition began in March 2010 when Mugler launched Womanity.com web site with an idea that every woman cooperates in its creation and finishing touch. With an aim to create contents for the website, one story is finished by several women, each of them writing on her page. Contest asks women to give creative ideas for a particular project or cause. The winner will work with Mugler to finish the website.
Fragrance WOMANITY was created as a part of this phenomenon, in a pink bottle. Connections between women are presented as chains and ring on top of the bottle which is decorated with metal frieze with symbolic design. Design of the top part of the bottle and beautiful frieze figures can be interpreted as Gothic or Art Deco style. Mugler's idea was however that the frieze encapsulated and depicted women of all generations.

Composition of Womanity was created by Mane, as a powerful contrast of elements. By using the new molecular process of extraction, Mane manages to extract natural aromas of fig for sweet accords. Savory notes originate from caviar and the structure in ensured by fig wood aromas. Pierre Aulas, olfactive director of Clarins Fragrance Group, says that it is a true challenge to work on Mugler's idea of combining savoury and sweet notes."

This is the strangest smelling fragrance ever. I swear I hated it when I first took a whiff but after wearing it just ONE time I fell in love. Like a woman it's different, it's feminine, its moving, powerful. Amazing! Go on out and try it! I dare you!

SAVED!

For 2 years I have tried everything on this great earth to get rid of my dandruff. Everything. From Head and Shoulders to Nioxin to Tar Shampoo to Fructus by Garnier: Salicylic to hydrating shampoos to scalp treatments... the list goes on. To no end. Let me tell you my routine. I would wash my hair every 2-3 or 4 days to not damage my hair as I have always be afraid of ruining it by drying it out.  Little did I know I was horribly wrong! For the past 4 days… that’s right 4 days, I have been washing my hair everyday with Fekkai Brilliant Glossing shampoo and conditioner and have found that my dandruff has VANISHED COMPLETELY. My hair is still amazingly soft as is my scalp. This isn’t even a dandruff shampoo! This leads me to believe that if you suffer from dandruff you SHOULD wash your hair every day. Why did nobody tell me?! I would recommend using a hydrating shampoo and conditioner as I’m still worried about my hair but I am in shock! Am I the only who thought it was better for my dry scalp to not wash my hair every day?

Aside from my old dandruff woes I am really getting along well with my new shampoo from Fekkai. Here is a bit more info on it.

What they Say:

Inspired by nature with its winning formula containing olive oil, Brilliant Glossing now features encapsulated technology that helps deliver even reflective shine from root to tip, and refreshes your shine as you comb your hair for brilliant hair throughout the day.
This shine release shampoo bathes hair with encapsulated spheres of olive oil all day long to keep locks lustrous. Safe for color-treated hair.

What I say:
I love Frédéric Fekkai. Brilliant Glossing has made my hair so shiny. It lathers up really well and doesn’t leave my hair feeling striped; I think this is from the olive oil in this particular one. Really though, I can’t be happier. I am not the kind of person who would normally be up for buying really expensive shampoo and conditioner but I am truly of changed mind. My hair is soft, healthy and dandruff free. It’s about time!

What is your favourite shampoo?

A Daytime look I've been lovin!

So, we all know everyone has their go-to makeup. Tried and true trusty stuff we can't live without. Well this is mine! I tend to use this stuff pretty regularly.

Cargo Liquid Foundation in F-20: I love that its water based so I don't break out! It's pretty nice coverage and quite layerable.

Benefit Sugarbomb: This blush/bronzer/highlighter creates such a nice glow on my face that I can't seem to live without it these days.

Benefit Brow Zings in Medium: What would my brows do without this godsend. I literally use this product everyday... and its still so full! Talk about bang for your buck!

Smashbox Eye Trio in Multi-Flash: On my skin these three colours create the perfect daytime eye. Light and fresh faced!

Smashbox Shadow in Minx: I use this if I want a more amped up day look. Its a purple/bronze/taupe... a pretty strange colour but its so beautiful at the same time...

Smashbox Cream Liner in Caviar: This is just a staple. Easy to use. Beautiful results. You need one.

Benefit They're Real Mascara: Its new and AMAZING. I do have pretty long lashes to start but this seriously makes them epic. Definition, volume, length its got it all!

Smashbox Number 19 Body & Face Brush: This would usually be a bronzer brush but I use it for everything. Everything. Powder, bronzer, blush... you name it. I also use other brushes buuuut I must say this is my fav.

What are some of YOUR go-to makeup stuff?

Glycolic! What’s up with that?

I recently got Murad’s Night Reform Glycolic Treatment from work and fell in love with it! Its part of their Age Reform line but knowing what I know about acids I knew the glycolic would do something nice for my oily skin. This got me thinking about Glycolic and how I wish more people would use it as opposed to a granular scrub but I just don’t think people know enough about it. So, let me explain.

Glycolic Acid is used to improve the skins appearance and texture as well as combating acne, scarring, hyperpigmentation and wrinkles. For acne this acid helps degrease, loosen comedones and is antibacterial. It also un-traps the sebum in the follicle and allows oxygen in.
Glycolic exfoliates by loosening the bonds between skin cells allowing them to be sloughed off, exposing live skin cells. This makes cellular turnover occur more freaquently, thus bringing hyperpigmentation and scarring to the surface faster allowing it to heal and fade.
As an anti-aging agent it isn’t the most useful acid as it draws moisture away from the skin but it will still refine the appearance of fine lines and allow for better product penetration. If you are looking for a peel that is truly brilliant try getting one from the line PCA. They are specially formulated to not be drying as mature cliental is one of their main demographics.
There you have it! I really hope this sparks some interest in this amazing acid! Ask your skincare professional or Doctor about getting yourself started.
